No Abbott

I have of course been glued to my screen checking out the signings for the Southern Softies and other 16.4 sides. I note that Mason Crane has signed for London again but this year Kyle Abbott is not with him. It adds to my doubts about his appearing in England in 2021.

PS I was going to add there are no South Africans, but spotted Kagiso Rabada signed for Manchester Munchkins.

Somebody has just sent me a Text about James Vince. He was sold today in the Hundred stuff for £80,000 and after his success in Australia he’s also playing today in Karachi (another T20 of course) for Multan Sultans, and has scored 84 from 55 balls.

Chris Wood also has a place in the Lord’s team, and Danny Briggs is playing for the Bowl-based team

Apparently only 10 overseas players have been signed. Not quite what was anticipated by the architects I suspect.

I believe we only have four mens players involved in the Horrendous Hundred so the rest will be twiddling their thumbs. Maybe we could arrange some four-day county games at club grounds for those of us that want to watch some cricket?

The rest will be playing in the Royal London Cup which is taking place at the same time as the Hundred.

Can I then begin to hope that Hampshire might play in the RLC at Pompey? They’ve played List A knock-out cup matches here before, way back.

The matches are all at the Ageas Bowl

Thanks – but I’m confused by that. If the RLC is at the same time as the Hundred are there no clashes?

They seem to alternate – there are a couple of occasions when both Hampshire and Southern Brave are playing, but always one home, one away. There are only 4 home games in each competition and although this year all the women’s hundred games are at the Bowl (none at Hove as was planned last year), they are all double-headers with men’s games (as are the away games)

On your question about clashes: there are three days on which both Hampshire and the Southern Brave play on the same day, but Hampshire are away from home in all three of these, so no clashes. The games themselves shouldn’t clash either as the Hundred games are in the evening, and Hampshire’s all start at 11am.
