Even if we’re stuffed it’s unlikely to break records except maybe Amla’s score: The highest innings for Surrey against us is 276 by Ernie Hayes in the 1909 game (next)

Surrey’s highest score against us is 742 in 1909

Our biggest defeat v Surrey (or anyone else) is an innings & 468 runs in 1909

Our next biggest defeat v Surrey is by an innings & 303 in 1897 and that’s the third biggest against anyone.

Fight hard, Boys! None of that collapse in twenty overs stuff. Look to Trevor Bailey for inspiration? I have been impressed by Currie in all this. Looks decent.

Even in inevitable defeat we can leave the Oval with something positive if as Bill says we fight hard and bat well in our second innings which would give us something to build on next week.

The earlier we bowl Surrey out the worse it will be for us, given the amount of time left. But Currie’s bowling is very encouraging.

Good to see people praising Currie who is now posing another problem for the selectors – and I’m writing this just after Holland has dropped Clarke off his bowling – if held it would have been his BB. AS Kevan commented “it wasn’t difficult”.
