With tickets for the Championship match v Surrey?

I’m a Life Member and I’m only commentating on days 3 & 4. Do I have to book to watch the first two days? I can’t see anything on the website and I wouldn’t want to miss the only home summer-time Championship match of the season would I?

Do let me know what you find out…I’m also a life member and don’t get there very often, but want to know whether, if it’s a good weather day, I can just show up or not…

Having seen the live stream the other night, our New Zealand player had the letter CDG on the back of his shirt Should we therefore give him the nickname “The Airport”

As a normal member I was also wondering the same as have not seen anything on this and as I have the week off work am hoping to finally see championship cricket. Equally I have seen nothing for the 50 over matches subsequently. Only the T20s starting next week. Will keep an eye on this to see if anyone gleans any information

I think nothing is on the website yet because the delay in ‘unlocking’ the covid restrictions meant that they’ve had to allocate members’ and passport holders’ seats for the first three T20s, which was done by Friday evening (and refunds for other ticket holders). With the Test match (and its extra day!) and the IT20 yesterday, I should imagine they’re a bit pressed!
Pure guess, but I expect they’ll turn their attention to the Championship game next, and by the time of that match they may know from the mini-review due on 4 July whether they’re going to have to allocate seats (and refund non-members and non-passport holders) for the remaining T20s.
I should think it’s an administrative nightmare – and with few, or no, tickets sold for some of these matches, plus extra stewarding and no in-house catering, it can’t be very remunerative for the club

Like dmashala I think the club originally thought the 4 day match would be “back to normal”. I’m sure we will hear in due course what the plan is likely to be.

It was fabulous to be back yesterday & th3 weather was perfect!

Clarification from Hampshire:
“Our priority right now is getting Hampshire Members into the ground. Those who already have tickets will have them honoured but we won’t be issuing any more. This is on our website I believe.

Hampshire Members will be able to bring guests to the game and be asked to manage their own social distancing.”

Thank you for these replies. I’ve trawled the website and I can see nothing at all. I’ll pursue it.

Just found this on the website under Tickets/County Championship:

“All 2021 Hampshire Cricket Members can enjoy access to all of Hampshire’s home LV= Insurance County Championship fixtures as part of their Membership.

More information regarding fixtures within the Division phase of the LV= Insurance County Championship (following the group stages) will become available soon on this page.

Tickets
Due to government restrictions, capacity restrictions will be in place for Hampshire’s final two home LV= Insurance County Championship fixtures.

These two fixtures at The Ageas Bowl – against Leicestershire and Surrey – will be Members-only events, meaning that only Hampshire Cricket Members, registered Members’ guests and hospitality guests can access these fixtures to ensure attendees remain safely socially distanced.”

So it will be the same procedure with regards attendance as per the last County Championship match. Each member will be allocated a seat for the four full days…
Unless they adopt the procedure as per the forthcoming t20s at the bowl where we have been allocated a block and row but with no particular seat….

No. See my comment above, with information from Greig. For the Surrey game we’ll be asked to manage our own social distancing so I think that means no seat allocations

Comment by dmashala

It also mentions that the Leicester match was brought forward to May

Thanks everyone. Prior to the Leics game we had to apply and an email came back with row and seat number. I’m not clear from any of this – and I’m impressed you found it, as all I could see was T20 stuff – whether we must apply again. But I’ve emailed them in charge.

It is a member ‘free for all’ with regards our Surrey County Championship game starting Sunday…..choose a seat of choice – Socially distanced of course!!!!

Comment by Stephen Anstey

Thanks everyone. I’ve now heard the same from the club.
