Same Again?

The same 14 man squad has been named for tonight so there might be changes but probably not. The Comments section is now open for business today but one extra Jubilee thought for today.

We are this week marking the 70th anniversary of the day that Princess Elizabeth became the Queen – with the formal Coronation to follow almost 18 months later. Her father died on 6 February 1952 and without endless research the only Hampshire-related event I can find for 6 February comes courtesy of Alan Edwards’ book Hampshire Cricket on this Day but it takes us back to 1905 and one of our first Championship captains and England cricketers ‘Teddy’ Wynyard who scored a century for Lord Brackley’s XI v the West Indies at Kensington Oval, Barbados.

PS: Lazing on a Sunny Afternoon (4.30 in Pompey) – Red Roses for the official Hampshire County crest, White Rose for Hampshire County Cricket and Pink? Just mix the two …

T20: Surrey 2nd XI 155-8 (Petrie 3-26); Hampshire 2nd XI 46-4 after 6 overs (Organ 1, Holland 6, Albert 17, Cheater 2, Middleton 17*). Cheater was out third ball playing an ugly swipe across a straight one (it’s on the stream) – fat lot of use such an innings for a youngster.

Can anyone a bit closer to the ground look out their window? Weather forecast says 50/50 chance of rain. Worth my 45 minute drive?

Bright sunshine in Pompey but then it always is. Apparently it’s raining in Cadnam and gloomy at the ground

Usually rains here about 3am when we’re fast asleep – perfect for the gardens then we wake every morning to blue skies and sunshine (he lied …)

Ah yes, it’s famous for that Clive. I grew up round the corner and some years ago went back nearby for about 10 years. I’ve done a gig or two in the Fawcett over the years. Meanwhile (6pm) it did get slightly gloomy here but bright sunshine again now – I hope it’s dried up at the ground?
