I’ve been watching the live streams while doing other things (sound off) – I suspect there will be quite a few doing the same tonight.

If you’re interested in the history of this fixture – not awful for us despite ‘Fortress Chelmsford’ – check out:

Let’s hope for a better result!

so you dont like tip it and run ?

Hah! I’m not bothered either Bill although I did actually watch it from the earliest days. Now, claiming to be Hampshire’s Historian, I feel a sense of obligation. And I would always prefer Hampshire’s cricketers to be winning!

Last year we won at Chelmsford after bowling them out for 142 – our only win in the first nine matches, so …

But not this year! Only the second time we’ve lost the first three (2018).

Much sympathy tonight to Bobby Parks whose dad Jim has died. Bobby was the third generation in the family – Jim was a special cricketer in my early years as a cricket fan, mainly for Sussex & England (he was a key member when Sussex won the first two Cup Finals) – and Jim was not out for Somerset at the end of day two in Hampshire’s penultimate match in 1974, they never got back on the field and lost the Championship as a consequence. RIP
