Whether Pakistan will now recall their best bowler?

Actually I suspect he is very happy not to be bowling on that

This match takes me back to the 1961-2 tour of Pakistan and India which I followed because ‘Butch’ White was in the party. He and Brown of Kent – both pace bowlers – opened in the first Test but it was hard work and some weeks later, after matches against India, ‘Butch’ and Brown were gone and England opened the bowling with all-rounder Barry Knight and captain Ted Dexter, after which spinners Lock (73 overs) and Allen (40.3) supported by batting ‘leggies’ Barrington and Barber (11 each). Pakistan declared on 393-7 in the 194th over. Despite a dramatic Pakistan collapse in the second innings (122-1 to 216 all out) there was no chance of a result.

Just posted this to some Facebook (cricket) pals. I’m not complaining (about today) but:

“I’m a pretty up-to-date guy in some respects – I prefer Little Simz to Cliff’s Christmas album – but I confess I’ve no longer the faintest idea about contemporary cricket in any of its formats.”

I think that England victory was quite astonishing – beyond my comprehension. I’ve just come home and wanted to check today’s news headlines and main stories on BBC News 24. I’ve been watching for 10 minutes and it’s all been about England’s victory.
