(A.K.A ‘Forever Changes’)
Earlier this week Colin (London resident) reported that Middlesex are considering entering a side in the Pakistan T20 franchise. He has also sent this from the London morning ‘freebie’. None of it fills me with delight I must confess
OK I surrender! Gulf Giants? Is that the Gulf of Mexico Franchise League. Has the Big Bash ended? Will Pompey Nil FC ever score again? How do you solve a problem like Maria?
James got it – I genuinely don’t know the answer since it’s not the Big Bash nor the teams listed in the article about SA and Cricket Archive does not show him playing for the Gulf Giants in any T20 competition
Thanks James. Checking again on Cricket Archive I discover that James’ matches for a variety of T20 sides across the globe are listed together (under ‘T20 Matches’) except for this competition which has its own separate listing. The reasons are not obvious to me.
Apparently the Gulf T20 performances don’t count in career statistics as it’s a domestic tournament in a country which is not a full ICC member (I think the UAE is an associate member). So the stats count as ‘other matches’
I think I have found the answer. He is playing for the Gulf in Abu Dhabi or possibly playing golf in Aberdovey but as the Big Cash hasn’t finished in Australia who knows
Well done Aiden Markram for being the captain of two of the six teams!

Comment by Dave Allen January 15, 2023 @ 3:33 pmPersonally I’d be happy if all eighteen counties played their T20 cricket in Pakistan and their Horrendous Hundred “cricket” anywhere but here!
Comment by James January 14, 2023 @ 10:31 amSee Vince moves onto the Gulf Giants and gets 65 runs with Dawson 1-17 in their win 🏏🏏

Comment by Dave Allen January 15, 2023 @ 3:35 pmI believe it’s the gulf between real cricket and T20 Dave.

Comment by dmashala January 16, 2023 @ 5:42 pmI’m glad you guys are keeping up with all this – fortunately the Hampshire Historian is not required to do so (I decided …)
