Slow News Day?

BBC Sport today: “Vince makes quickfire 27 …”

(A bit like “Sunak and Starmer have a slight disagreement” or “Palace & Liverpool draw 0-0”?)

Actually this ‘news’ Comment (also BBC) is even better. Alex Hartley who bowled for the England Women’s team has suggested – no asserted – that having won their third successive World T20 Trophy the Australians are “the greatest sporting side of all time”.

I preferred a reader’s Comment on the Spurs v Chelsea game suggesting that all the stories would be about Harry & Potter!!

Perhaps Chelsea should have got Harry Potter to manage the team not Graham.

Cheers Bill. My A-Z entry opens with “born Surrey 22.6.1879, died Boscombe, near Bournemouth, 10.7.1950. Captain Barrett was a fine, hard-hitting batsman who played in 80 first-class matches for Hampshire in a career from 1896-1925. That he did not play more was because he was a professional soldier, often serving abroad. He was also a fine rugby union player who represented England v Scotland in 1903”. His father also played a bit for Hampshire.
