Hampshire Cricket History

Here are a couple of pix from today’s launch of the tribute to Hampshire’s Caribbean cricketers (mainly county cricketers but also a club side from 1962 in Southampton). The exhibition runs for the next two weeks in The Mall (Marlands) Shopping Centre just north of West Quay in Southampton’s City Centre. The BBC Sport website today carries a story that “Rajasthan Royals and Kings XI Punjab have both had their franchises terminated by the governing Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI)” – they have been excluded from the IPL

The Rajasthan Royals, captained by Shane Warne, led the world-wide Royals franchise which Hampshire signed up to in the spring. There is not yet any information about the implications of this development for the international initiative.
