This Combined Services side played v Warwickshire at Edgbaston:

Comb Services 1953

It includes two Gloucestershire spinners, a Kent ‘keeper’, at least two other keepers, a Somerset captain and three Hampshire players – one of whom is still alive and visits every year.

All will be revealed.

I would say Jimmy Gray and ACD Ingleby-Mackenzie (part-time ‘keeper) are ther, but can’t recognise the rest . .

One right, one wrong Bob … you won’t recognise one of the Hants players (at least I didn’t) but you saw him this year.

Then it must be ‘the dentist’ – 1st on the left at the back row?

Comment by Bob Elliott

Hah! Good guess and he’s a wicketkeeper too – but sorry, no (and not JR Gray who you probably saw) so YES to Ingleby and someone a bit older than the dentist (and he is seated left but that won’t help I suspect)

Mr Manners. Good grief – should’ve guessed – Royal Navy man.

Comment by Bob Elliott

That’s him! So, Naval chap – 1953 – what might the side be?

Comment by pompeypop

You’ve alreadytold us – Combined Services . .

Comment by Bob Elliott

Quite correct – sorry. I’d been using it as a quiz elsewhere!
