Sean asked how the famous 1922 victory at Edgbaston was reported in the 1923 ‘Handbook’ (Hampshire County Cricket Guide). The answer is in the picture below. There is no mention of the match in the Introduction and no article summarising the season.

One or two by the Heritage Committee (and the commentators!!) to coincide with (a) the date (Yorkshire match) and (b) v Warwickshire. I think we should organise a mass applause in the latter when we reach 16!
Whilst I appreciate this isn’t the place for a franchise cricket love in I’m sure a few bloggers care what the Hants players get up to.

According to a report I saw somewhere on the net the total could have been seven. The four extras were byes off a ball the Warwickshire bowler bowled before the wicketkeeper was ready. Tennyson’s four came off a dropped catch off the first ball of his innings and he was out the next ball.

His team lost yesterday in their semi-final.
He performed well though, taking 2-24 from 4 overs including a wicket maiden. He got Sussex (Lancashire now?) batter Phil Salt out.
