Not a great weekend for Scottish sport but the cricketers can feel proud of their achievements and maybe after that start they were unlucky against England.
It was the one game in which Brad Wheal did not bowl of course. In the end his tournament figures were:
11.4 – 1 – 86 – 5. His runs per wicket average was 17.2, he bowled 70 balls of which 32 were ‘dots’ and his economy rate was good at around 7.4.
Does he get into the Hampshire side now?

I suspect it all depends if the rainy season here ends before the cricket finishes? Unlike England we did not get the chance to bat in the last two matches!

Comment by wl4817686 June 16, 2024 @ 10:15 amWith regard to Scottish sport this weekend Glasgow Warriors deserve a mention for going to Limerick and beating the reigning champions Munster on their home turf in the URC rugby union semi-final. A really huge result. They face South Africa’s Bulls in the grand final.
Comment by James June 16, 2024 @ 12:09 pmScott Currie succeeds again – 3-19 as Leics beat Yorkshire
Comment by Dave Allen June 16, 2024 @ 6:01 pmCurrie now has 13 x T20 wickets – Before today only Ben Green (14) had more than that (Scott’s economy is 7.67 and Strike Rate 12.4)
Comment by Dave Allen June 16, 2024 @ 6:10 pmIf Hampshire had to play Leicestershire in T20 would Currie be allowed to play against Hampshire?
Comment by vern1970 June 17, 2024 @ 10:23 amGood question Vern and I don’t know. Would Mason have played last week I wonder?
Comment by Dave Allen June 17, 2024 @ 11:45 amApparently not – Mason wasn’t in their squad last week and I believe there’s a clause in the agreement precluding playing against the main club. See also Denmead (nr Hambledon) below – thanks
Comment by Dave Allen June 17, 2024 @ 4:18 pm2nd XI four day match. Middleton, Brown and Organ playing. Jack Campbell playing for Sussex.
