It’s delightful that folks are recalling Alan Rayment’s radio interview back in May 2019. Here are a couple of photos of Alan with Kevan (Dave Bracegirdle from Notts in the background) and one with Adi and the Physio during the “injuries” bit!
I hope the Isle of Wight is given a 4 day match next year, the match v Notts was a great success which is why I was disappointed that in 2020 they were only given a one day match v Lancashire.
I agree completely – it was an absolutely wonderful four days. I am however fearful that the plan to play in Winchester might take precedence – we shall have to see.
I don’t mind Winchester college having games too, it looks like a wonderful setting and pavilion as Newport is. Winchester very easy to get to and good transport links.
I think this is difficult – I greatly enjoyed the match at Newport (we went and stayed for a week on the Island and would do so again), but when there are only 7 home Championship games, to move one to the IoW cuts out 1/7th of their membership for those who only go to Championship games. Either a daily commute to the match, or staying over, would be prohibitively expensive for some.
Not sure what the answer is tbh
Good point – I was lucky to get the loan of a mate’s flat for the week in Seaview. I agree with Vern that Winchester is a central and interesting choice too. I don’t mind more spreading out around the outgrounds (away as well as home) if that’s the future. They are usually great fun.

Comment by Dave Allen October 24, 2021 @ 9:43 amIf someone has paid for membership and can’t make it to outgrounds maybe some sort of refund or a free International ticket could be awarded.
